CNA is at the helm of the legislative single-payer movement in Califronia, supported by the National Nurses United parent organiztion & union.
CNA is working with Rep. Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) on AB 2200, or CalCare:
Improving upon AB 1400 from last session, AB 2200 would guarantee comprehensive, high-quality health care for all Californians as a human right. -
Upon being authorized and financed, CalCare will ensure that all Californians, regardless of employment, income, immigration status, race, gender, or any other considerations, can get the health care they need, free at the point of service.
A single-payer system will cost less overall than our current system and will significantly slow the growth of health care costs over time, saving billions each year.

We produce video, audio and digital content featuring community members, healthcare activists, celebrities (including Lily Tomlin) that reveals the flaws in our market-based healthcare system and promotes a universal, single payer system that eliminates the middlemen. For example, during the debate around the Affordable Care Act, we produced a series of 90 video public service announcements that ran daily on social media.
Our current weekly podcast Code WACK! uplifts powerful, relatable stories in digital and streaming media, illustrating both the human stakes and the urgency of the crisis.

Healthy California Now is founded on the principles that healthcare is a human right, and that publicly financed guaranteed health care — care with a single standard for all residents of California — is critical to our state’s social and economic well-being. We are dedicated to establishing a single-payer system in California as a model for a just and equitable U.S. healthcare system that eliminates all barriers to care.
-
Health Care for All – California (HCA) is dedicated to achieving universal health care through single-payer public financing. Our goal is for all California residents to have guaranteed, high quality, comprehensive health care.

Care4All California is a coalition of over 70 consumer, community, labor, progressive, and health care organizations working to advance the goal of quality affordable health care for all Californians. The Care4All California policy agenda leverages what is achievable in California without significant federal approval to make measurable progress toward universal coverage. This campaign includes many organizations that support single-payer and Medicare for All, and we see these efforts to be complementary, not competing with those goals.
